Portland, Oregon is often called a "big
town" because the people in the Portland area are so kind and friendly.
The city of Portland is divided in half by the Williamette River.
The West Side of Portland Metro consists of many towns and neighborhoods.
Beaverton is the first town just west of the Portland city limits. It is known
as the home of Nike corporate headquarters, as well as Tectronics' home campus.
Just west of Beaverton is the town of Hillsboro. With its many growing
sites, Hillsboro is home to Intel. Many other high-tech firms and support
companies are also located in Hillsboro.
Farther west are the small towns of Cornelius and Forest Grove. Forest
Grove is the site of Pacific University, a private liberal arts university with
Master's Programs in Optometry, Physical Therapy, and Teaching. The university
offers a unique community flavor that other small towns of 15,000 residents
often lack.
